2014 – Gallipoli Memorial Club – Gallipoli Art Prize – Sydney

‘The Valiant Procession’ oil on canvas, 46x46cm, $2500

When the time comes for one to fight for one’s country in another land everything one holds dear is left behind in a memory.  The one becomes memory, fighting and surviving side by side.

That first war was unrelenting in its ferocity and horror, running with rapid ruin and oblivion and chaos hand in hand.

Constant dark skies that other land, bomb scarred with its air thick with death of the many, unforgettable acts of bravery and comradeship blanketed the bruised landscape, where makeshift crosses lay side by side and where many returned as shadows to be honoured and remembered for their valiant procession.
