This show curated by Fiona MacDonald was in fact the first show I was in outside Brisbane, it gave me an opportunity to meet other artists in the field of art furniture or installation pieces and opened my eyes.  A wonderful experience which includes dealing with interstate transport companies.

Artists included - Brigitte Bountry, Liesje Clement, Peter Cooley, Clinton Garofano, David Hawkes, Andrew Jackson, James Kutasi, Fiona MacDonald, Fleur MacDonald and Laurence Vichie.

I had 4 pieces of painted furniture, 'Plantaloop', coffee table, 'Zedachess', cane table, 'A', pot stand and 'Zenith', book shelf all of which were painted with gouache and enamel on wood...


... That Space was run by enthuiastic arts worker Paul Andrew...  and sadly again I have no images of the work as yet!!!

1986 - THAT Birthday Show - THAT Space - Brisbane

It's all a little sketchy with the facts about this show, but I do remember I had 2 works in this show, ‘Small wooden corner Table’ which sadly has since been destroyed and ‘Wooden foot stool’ which now belongs to my father...

1985 - O'Flate Studio Show - Bell Tower Design House - Brisbane

O’Flate Studio Plunge

For my first show I shared the space with a number of other artists such as O’Flate which includes performance artists, Jeanelle Hurst, Russell Lake, Zelico Marik, Adam Boyd and Michelle Andringa... and fashion designers Maria Cleary and Christine Feld...

The opening was on the 1st August, a Thursday night at 7.30pm... and the show went for 2 weeks... A studio show of the collective artists...

This event included my first solo with 8 pieces of painted and carved furniture that I had found and selling most of them...

The building we were in was a grand old warehouse on Bruinswick St, between Fortitude valley and New Farm Brisbane, it had a Bell Tower on the top floor that was quite large and housed the Bell Tower Design Team (Christine Feld)...
